July 30, 2019

President Joe Butterfield called the July 30, 2019 regular monthly meeting of the Four Corners Rifle and Pistol Club to order at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Joe advised that long-time Club member, Tom Brenner, had passed away.

Anita handed out the Treasurer’s Report to members present. After presenting an overview of the report, a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report was made, which motion was seconded and unanimously approved.

Under old business, Gayel Alexander announced that the new flyer for the 2020 Gun Show is ready to go to print. If anyone is interested in passing out flyers, let Gayel know.

Luann advised that membership finally passed the 300 mark this year.

Jim indicated he got the air conditioner going for the indoor range.

As it relates to Junior Shooters, Norm said they are waiting until October to get started.

Kudos to Susa for her hard work on the Crackshot Newsletter. It is amazing.

Mic McPherson inquired as to whether or not we’ve heard from the Lindsay family as to a memorial for their son, Will. Joe responded that we are still waiting to hear from them.

Joe also advised that since Rich is not present tonight, we do not have an update as the Club’s Gold Medal status with NRA or the proclamation by the County Commissioners supporting our local gun ranges.

Under new business, Kelly announced that we have a request from the Ute Mountain High School Rodeo Team to again use the .22 range at the outdoor range Labor Day Weekend in order for members to compete. After brief discussion, a motion was made, seconded and the request was approved. Kelly said will be make the necessary arrangements.

A reminder was given that the August meeting will be our annual barbecue. Kelly advised that the Ute Coffee Shop will donate the baked potatoes and will also provide the chicken for the attendees wanting it. The cost for the dinner is $5 for members and their immediate family and $10 for non-members. The idea of a theme for the dinner was brought up and Susa suggested that we celebrate the 2nd Amendment (possibly the 240th year). A motion to purchase a sheet cake was made and passed.

Chuck Wark advised that we need stools for the outdoor range. An 18” stool runs approximately $36.50 each. After discussion, a motion was made to purchase ten (10) stools, which motion was seconded, and approved. Gary Kyle will take care of ordering.

Chuck also brought up that we need gravel for the indoor range. He has access to a belly dump to haul the gravel. Three loads would run approximately $1,350. Norm volunteered to spread the gravel. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to purchase gravel.

As to new business, Joe advised that Kelly is planning to head up the Club barbecue on August 27th. We will have a choice of steak or chicken and those planning on attending will need to notify Kelly of their choices. Charge for the dinner will be $5.00 for members and their immediate family and $10.00 for non-members. Bring desserts.

There being no further business, upon motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
